GTA IV proves to be a potent herbicide.
Posted by Nick McCavitt, 108 days ago Aug 7, 2008 11:54

It’s looking to be one of GTA IV’s roughest weeks ever in terms of sheer bad PR. First there was the story regarding the murder in Thailand which the perpetrator said was inspired by GTA IV. Today, an altogether more odorous crime has been laid at the feet of GTA IV: wholesale plant destruction. The story comes from the Swedish publication NSD in which Swedish park supervisor Gert Axelsson has claimed widespread destruction of the plants under his charge by people who play GTA IV "where you wreak havoc in the city.” This problem has so terrified the surrounding area of Lulea that Axelsson said he is “very much considering getting surveillance.” You have to admire the genius of Rockstar’s development team: not only do they create a game that has been worshiped all over the Internet as the best thing ever, but it seems it has also become responsible for the downfall of international civilization: you could practically start a religion around this game at both ends of the spectrum.
