Microsoft Jumps on the Instrument Peripheral Bandwagon
Posted by Brad Hilderbrand, 107 days ago Aug 20, 2008 14:42

Yesterday, we brought word that Sony was making sure all Guitar Hero, Rock Band, Rock Revolution, and SingStar instrument peripherals were compatible with all games across the platform, and we speculated the Microsoft would likely soon be next. We were right on the money, as the company has announced today that their instruments will also be fully cross-compatible, meaning that we can all breathe a little easier knowing we aren’t going to have to shell out $400 to play the next generation of rhythm games. The only game not included in Microsoft’s compatibility promise was Lips, but honestly, who cares about Lips anyway?

Now, the only company we haven’t yet heard from is Nintendo, so we’ll wait patiently for them to say something. Of course, considering the fact that you can’t really utilize any of the downloadable features on the other platforms or most of the other online functionality, I wouldn’t be surprised if Nintendo just trucks right along like always, not even worrying about things like instrument compatibility. But it’s still a Festivus for the rest of us.
