As the release date of Fable II draws near, the review copies begin to flow in to the reviewers. Surely, this would get most developers nervous. Just imagine if you were the boss of a big game company and have invested hundreds of thousands of dollars into one game that could easily decide the future of you and your company... But the almighty Peter Monyleux? Feeling the pressure? Who knew!
Kotaku reports that along with the usual items that come with a review copy, (tips, guides, and details) came a personal request from Peter Monyleux himself on how to review the game:
“I have a favour to ask you — we build this game not only to appeal to gamers like yourself, but to appeal to anybody. So please, please, please, please, please find somebody who doesn’t play games, watch them play it and see how their world turns out, because I think it’s only when you see those differences that the unique experiences comes through.”
Interesting to say the least…
This ‘plea’ could be perceived in two different ways: Monyleux could be saying that game reviewers are too worn-out to do their jobs or he may not be confident on how the reviewers will take the game. One would think that Lionhead would have nothing to worry about as the first game got high marks and was acclaimed by critics but I guess you can never be too careful.
Personally though, I find this statement a bit scary. It almost gives a sign that Monyleux doesn’t think that Fable II is all that it was made out to be. But I guess we’ll have to wait and see… Stay tuned for a review from us here at TGR.
