We can’t blame most of you for sighing when you read this headline about yet another rumor of a 360 version of Metal Gear Solid 4, but XboxFamily.com seems pretty convinced that it’s happening. In the article they claim that after persistent questioning of a Konami rep, an undisclosed source eventually admitted that a 360 version would be released 12-14 months after the PS3 version. This would mean that Sony’s exclusive deal would only be timed, ending in 2009.
The writer of the article also contacted a Microsoft PR representative and received quite a lengthily email, but got the expected “no comment” response. However XboxFamily.com believes that because of the length of the email, and the mentioning of what the PR rep has to go though when secret information is leaked, that there is some truth in Microsoft’s denial. The article is adamant that their information is genuine, saying clearly, “This is not a rumor”, but after the long clouded history surrounding a possible port of MGS 4 you can’t blame anyone for being just a little skeptical.
It has been reported in the past that certain people at Konami have said a port is possible because of the need to increase profit in order to combat high development costs. But until we actually see this headline in a Microsoft/Konami press release it’s probably safe to file this one under rumor yet again, and don’t be surprised if actual confirmation doesn’t come out until sometime after MGS 4 is released for the PS3.
