Activision today official announced Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock "Rock Your Party Weekend" event today. The event, which will occur on Xbox LIVE, is due to occur on Super Bowl weekend this February 1st through 3rd and is open to both U.S and Canadian residents. Over this 72-hour period, owners of Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock will be given the opportunity to show off their Guitar Hero skills and the chance to enter and possibly win a number of prizes from the Play & Win Sweepstakes that Activision is offering. Also, prior to the kick off of the Super Bowl, Guitar Hero III players will also be able to test their musical ability against members of the Neversoft team that worked to develop the game starting at 12:00pm and running until 4:00pm on Sunday, February 3rd.

The prizes that will be offered to winner of the Play & Win Sweepstakes include Microsoft points, Guitar Hero merchandise, and an Xbox 360 wireless guitar faceplate signed by Slash.
