BioWare and Electronic Arts made q joint announcement today that the two firms are combining their efforts in order to provide PC fans with a version of Mass Effect designed specifically for use with their personal computers. A variety of features will be included in this PC version of Mass Effect, including a brand new and carefully crafted control scheme for the PC, high quality graphics as seen in the Xbox 360 version, the ability to alter the controls to any setting they prefer, and a new "Run and Gun" system that allows the player to set biotic abilities or character skills to a variety of hot keys for easier use. The PC version will also feature a new decryption mini-game, along with a revamped inventory GUI, which allows for quicker equipping and modifying of weapons and armor.

The General Manager of BioWare offered the comment that “Mass Effect serves as a powerful example of video games as an art form, delivering new levels of emotional intensity, realistic characters and a gripping storyline – all set in a compelling new universe.” Mr. Frank Gibeau, the Vice President of Electronic Arts, also stated that “EA has struck an agreement with Microsoft to handle future publishing for Mass Effect. We are looking forward to releasing Mass Effect on the PC this Spring and brand new titles in the future.”
