People from Activision and Infinity Ward must have woken up this morning with a massive smile on their faces, as the news has broke that the Call of Duty 4 Variety Map Pack has just set a record number of paid downloads from Xbox Live Marketplace. To be more exact, one million people have downloaded the maps within the first nine days of it going live.
As Reported by Videogamer:
"Infinity Ward is extremely grateful for support from our loyal Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare community around the world," said Robert Bowling, community relations manager, Infinity Ward. "From the beginning, we were committed to do our best and that continues now with the Variety Map Pack. We can’t wait to get back online with everyone."
Microsoft has also shared some other Live Stats regarding Call of Duty 4. Since the maps release, more than 30 million hours of gameplay have been logged by over 30 million sessions by Xbox Live members. This comes as no surprise since the game has now sold more than nine million units worldwide across all formats the game was released on.
